In the Western world, a formal education is intended to prepare us for a career and the ability to secure an income. Colleges, universities, and vocational schools help to prepare us for work. But, education should be viewed as a lifelong experience. When formal education has ended, we should spend the rest of our lives learning how to live a responsible and productive life. This is accomplished by continual self-education including reading, exploration, skill development, and learning valuable life experiences. ~Greg L. Thomas
